The best place to buy a mattress!! We shopped at Jordan’s first- where we (used to) always get our mattresses- however it was an unpleasant experience! It was high pressure sales and we ended up putting a down payment on a $4000 mattress we didn’t even really like. Ended up cancelling it as we weren’t happy with it. I started doing some research of other places and found Portland Mattresses which I had a vague memory of hearing about. I was ready to drive to Maine when I saw they have a place in the next town over, Andover, MA. I was immediately welcomed Bonnie who was kind and not pushy - just informative and made me feel really comfortable. She understood what my husband and I were looking for. Showed me and explained the line of beds to try. She said she wanted me to take my time and try to really relax on each one - no rush and she would be in the store and could answer any questions. Brought my husband the next day - same experience. We picked out a bed we both really loved and it’s half the price of the Jordans one we didn’t even like. I could not be happier! Every aspect of our experience was outstanding. Lots more details I could add but it would take all day to write it! Support this small business that’s been around a long time!

This mattress is just what we needed for my wife to sleep better. We highly recommended it and drove 2-1/2 hours to pick it up.
Comfort is what its all about and boy did we get that with our new Portland Matress. Bonnie was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about Matresses. There was no pressure to buy and we tested our fairshare. Once we decided on one, the delivery process was fine and within 2 weeks, we were sleeping like babies. We also love the fact that this matress is made in the USA.

We love our Acadia Pillowtop King mattress! Bonnie at the Andover store was super knowledgeable and great to work with. At home drop off is convenient and they took an old mattress back with them. 10/10 experience.

This is the second custom mattress that we have purchased from Portland mattress company. We wanted a new mattress for one of the berths in our boat and as we had used this company before we went right to them. This is a very high-quality mattress and it fits perfectly in the space it was designed for. The template system works well. The mattress was ready in the timeframe we were told. We would definitely recommend Portland mattress.
I had a very pleasant experience at Portland Mattresses after going to a couple of other stores, they were very helpful, patient and offered some good recommendations. They worked around my schedule to deliver the mattress and removed my old one. I’m very glad I stopped here and would encourage you to check out their wide selection. I highly recommended them.
Portland Mattress was very easy to work with and our custom boat topper came out great. We'll be returning soon to purchase a mattress for our bed at home.

Great from the website to the store, and through delivery. Sales staff were helpful in finding the right mattress. They communicated in a timely manner throughout. We feel we have a quality locally made mattress that is very comfortable and supportive of backs.
After a number of disappointing experiences shopping for a mattress, we went to Portland Mattress Makers in Andover at the suggestion of a friend. What a find!! Bonnie (the store manager) may be the best salesperson we have ever encountered. Her product knowledge is incredible and she worked extremely hard to make sure we were buying the right product. The company itself is also a great story - family owned, all manufacturing done in Maine, and a real focus ensuring customers are really happy with their purchase. I recently ordered a custom boat mattress for my Tiara 3300. The V-berth is "L" shaped and had a piece of hand cut memory foam in place. I was skeptical on how well a new custom mattress was going to fit until they sent me the pattern kit which included an angle gauge. The patterning was very simple and recording the angles gave me hope. The mattress fit perfectly, including the angled sides to conform to the hull. I really like the vapor barrier on the bottom as the humidity can get pretty high during the Summer. I also really like the fitted sheets, especially at the corner of the "L" shape. If it is not fitted, the sheets can't make that 90 degree turn and look very sloppy. They also sent my pattern to another company to have a custom cover/comforter made. The mattress is very comfortable, communication from PMM has been excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new, high quality mattress.

Everyone is so helpful. You can tell it’s a local operation. They answered so many questions of mine. They aren’t on commission so they really just care about your comfort letting you take time to purchase. So happy we found them right down the street from us 🙂

The crew did a great job with the install and disposal of our old mattress. We’ve had 5 blissful sleeps on the Portland mattress and feel great. We should have made the change earlier. Thank you Bonnie, you found the right mattress for us.
