The 2 delivery guys were polite and efficient. They removed the huge king size mattress from the 2nd floor without incident.They called to let me know their arrival time .i have high praise for the delivery process.
Knowledgeable, not forceable, incredibly helpful and understood what I wanted/needed at a price I found extremely reasonable! Painless exchange of monies. Delivery was a little earlier than expected and I was thrilled! There is much to be said for “sleep local”!

Had a great shopping experience and love my new mattress. The salesman was knowledgeable, patient, polite and very helpful in narrowing down selections for me and letting me test the mattresses. After telling him my frustration with not being able to flip hybrid mattresses over for more even wear, he told me I could have both sides finished - problem solved and mattress sold (had both sides finished)! I hope now to get some good longevity from this new mattress. Also, I use an adjustable bed frame and this mattress stays put - it doesn’t slide down, hitting the foot of the bed, when raised like my old hybrid mattress did and it is a bit thicker so my sheets fit tighter which I’m happy about.
Great experience and a great product. We had a couple issues of our own making (always issues dealing with a boat) and they helped us out on the spot. It was one of those things that if they had said we can take care of it early next week, that is what I would normally expect as good service. Instead we walked out the door the next day with problems solved.
My wife and I are absolutely thrilled with our new mattress. We had a fantastic buying experience with our salesperson Ken, who expertly explained the features, benefits and advantages of each of the many products available to us. He listened to our previous experiences with different manufacturers and helped us both select the models, which were best suited to our individual sleeping needs. He took the time to help us both try out different models, listening to our feedback and helping us select the perfect system.The delivery and setup team were equally effective at listening to how and where we needed the equipment set up. They were friendly, patient and careful to ensure that the installation went smoothly, the new system met our requirements, that we understand the proper operation of the equipment, and that our old mattress was removed properly.We loved working with the team at Portland Mattress Makers and will recommend them to all our friends and family.
I went to Portland Mattress to work towards staying local and supporting ME jobs. However, I had very strict mattress details that I needed and was not going to compromise. I can report the product is just as ordered, on time and very competitively priced! Keep it going Portland Mattress!!

We have bought two mattresses and both times, we worked with Catherine. She is a gem!! Very knowledgeable, helpful, lovely disposition. She answers questions with ease and while speaking with us, she made us feel very comfortable with our decision. We would go back because of her and the product.
My wife and I decided to shop for two twin xl mattresses to replace a king size mattress that no longer was comfortable for either of us. We decided to try two xl mattresses because we each need different firmness levels.We actually were dreading the process of having to make this purchase knowing that there are so many different choices and options in this industry. Lucky for us Portland Mattress is where we began to shop, and after such a great experience with Sandy we made our purchase the following day. We never felt pressured or rushed to make a decision and made several suggestions after listening to what our needs were. She took the time to explain why she thought we would get a better nights sleep on those that she recommended. After trying the mattresses that she recommended she was able to answer all our questions and explain how the mattresses were all hand crafted and built right in the Biddeford location. By this time my wife and I both knew that we were going to purchase our new mattress from Sandy the following day !We were fortunate to have our new mattresses delivered within a weeks time by two awesome delivery experts Tony and Alex. They took out our old mattress and set up the new mattresses and were back on the road in less than 15 minutes. Delivery was completed within promised time frame. Receiving a beautifully boxed thank you gift was unexpected but so appreciated.The most awesome derail that I haven’t mentioned yet is that our new mattresses are the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on.We have purchased several mattresses in our lifetime, but this experience has left us so happy that we purchased mattresses of such quality, sold by someone who really knows the product, made locally and delivered by people who respect your property.Thanks to all of you at Portland mattress who were involved in selling, manufacturing, and delivery of such a quality product.

Mike and Sam were efficient and thorough with the delivery. We discovered Portland Mattress Makers while looking for a company to locally source multiple new mattresses for a home. We stopped in at the Portsmouth location and worked with Jean. She was very informative and low pressure, unlike many the sales people in most mattress stores. We did some price/mattress comparisons with another family-owned mattress company, and found Portland Mattress Makers to offer options that better suited our needs. The company was very easy to work with. Our mattresses were made and delivered on time, the delivery fee was reasonable and they showed up when they said they would. Better yet, we're all happy with the comfort of the mattresses and would purchase here again.
Supportive but not pushy showroom experience, much appreciated. Excellent post sale delivery communication. I added a box spring last minute and they were able to accommodate it on the truck which was wonderful. The mattress is perfect, best I've ever had. I had been considering ordering a mattress made in CA but it made so much more sense to buy local product especially when it is equal to if not better than anything else I've looked at. I would absolutely buy another mattress from here!
I hate buying things like mattresses that are expensive and complicated in their variety. But I have been sleeping on a Portland Mattress for 15 years, so I when I needed a new one, I figured I'd just go back to you.I went into the Portland store on a recent quiet Sunday. The manager was patient and helpful, and I had the new mattress within two weeks. The delivery crew was awesome as well, and the Coffee By Design was a nice touch.So I just wanted to say thank you. As I said, these kinds of purchases are stressful to me, but you made it quick and painless, and I also got to support a local business. Not to mention, the mattress itself is top quality, feel great, sleeps well so far!Thanks!
The perfect bed was recommended to me ( a stomach and side sleeper).And it is the best!After sleeping too long on a bad mattress, I no longer have hip stiffness!The customer service was great, the delivery people were great and the mattress is unbelievable!I am also very happy to have supported a local business. I did not care to look anywhere else.
We had to order all new mattresses and box springs (8!) for our camp after a mold remediation and Portland Mattress Makers came highly recommended. Tracy was incredible helpful in the store and the delivery team was top notch, avoiding low wires with their truck and getting mattresses and box springs up to lofts. And then they gave us a thank you gift 🤯 when they were the ones that truly deserve all the thanks!
From start to finish, the team at Portland Mattress Makers was incredible! We had gone to a larger furniture store for a new bed and were gobsmacked by the cost. We visited Portland Mattress Makers the next day and purchased our new bed at half the cost and more importantly, the mattress was handmade locally! Our delivery guys, Alex and Sam, were excellent! They went above and beyond the normal delivery routine, they were flexible and easy going, kind and helpful, as well as accommodating some last minute changes that required them to carry the king mattress and old mattress many further steps.The sales person who helped us pick out the right mattress took time to work with us and also let us take our time, easy and helpful from start to finish.Their prices and policies are very reasonable. Their mattress is so much better than the typical store brands.
I shopped at the Fox Street store. Sam was very helped with his product knowledge. I support local businesses and this new mattress is terrific. A fair price for a quality product with money kept local. The 2 delivery guys were courteous, and efficient. They took my old king size mattress, left me my paperwork and a thank your package from Coffee By Design. I recommend this local business for anyone looking for a new mattress.
It’s such a nice touch when your delivery man hands you a Thank You Box for purchasing a new mattress! Very impressed with this local, made in Maine mattress that I found on their website…..I was able to try it out at one of the showrooms and had it delivered just in time to aide me with a long recovery from surgery. I have been sleeping on the pillow top since February and I love the mattress. Well done Portland Mattress Makers!
The mattress is very comfortable, supportive, and well constructed. The service was excellent. The sales person was very knowledgeable and helpful. The delivery was perfect. They arrived at the appointed time, the set up was speedy, and they removed all of the packaging. I would not hesitate to by another mattress from them.

She had me try out several and told me about the differences.It is only took three weeks to have our two mattresses made, then their staff gave us a white glove delivery.I highly recommend this company when you need a new mattress.
Portland Mattress Makers was our choice for new mattresses. These mattresses are made in Maine, USA! The store is no frills; the saleswoman was very knowledgeable and helpful. We felt no pressure whatsoever to buy. We tested all the mattresses and found the perfect fit! Instead of buying one, we bought three. Great store, definitely recommend!
Had a custom mattress made by these guys and they were the absolute best people to work with. I was under a bit of a time crunch because of a planned trip in my camper van but was unable to get them the measurements until there was under two months left. They gave me a date when it would be finished. It was done about three days after that date because of a question which could only be answered by my builder. They reached out to him and they then let me know what was going on. Their communication with me was top notch. I knew what was going on each and every step of the way. Every person I spoke with over the phone were professional, helpful, polite and most importantly, kind. They were generous with their time in answering every single question I had and not once did anyone make me feel I was a bother in any way.Importantly, the mattress was perfect. The fit, the size — everything. Only time will tell about the quality of the mattress as far as comfort and durability but I have high hopes about both because everything else about this company is first class.From my first interaction over the phone with Sandy, as well as my email and/ phot conversations with Cassie, Catherine and Jean, I felt I was being well taken care of at Portland Mattress Makers. Highly recommend them for any mattress needs you may have.

I needed a new mattress for our lake house so my sister suggested I check here since she had a good experience. At their Portsmouth store I tried several mattresses with the help from the salesperson. Prices were excellent so I purchased one. They made it quickly and I had it in time for Memorial Day weekend. The whole experience was great and I would happily recommend them.
We had a wonderful experience purchasing and receiving our mattress. At the store in Portsmouth NH they were helpful and knowledgeable and allowed us space and time to come to our own conclusion with their insight. They reached out to us prior to the delivery date and the packet explained everything. The delivery team was efficient and respectful of our space and the gift was unexpected but greatly appreciated. The personal service was spectacular. Based on my needs I had chosen one style of mattress, but shortly before delivery an employee called to ask if I was SURE the mattress I had chosen was the best fit for my needs based on Antique bed frame constraints.It ended up, that she was correct. There was a mattress, made in Portland, that I had not previously considered that was an even better fit than the one I originally ordered. So at the last minute they changed the mattress style. The mattress ( new style) was delivered on time, exactly as my first choice was promised!!I was ultimately pleased by the second choice which the sales person recommended four days prior to delivery. SO GLAD I LISTENED. They know mattresses.FYI: To my amazement, the second choice, was actually LESS expensive than my first choice!

It’s been 3 weeks since the arrival of our firm double sided Boothbay queen mattress with adjustable frame. It’s so comfortable and supportive and cushions the of your body. My spouse and I have arthritis. Once we started sleeping on the new mattress everything felt more supportive and wesleep better. The remote for the Leggett & Platt adjustable frame, illuminates and is easy to use. The features include: head and foot adjustment, head with massage, an under-bed light a flashlight, a snore setting, a wave and zero G. It’s more than we will ever use. You will love it. We pick out the feel we wanted and within a 40 min visit made the purchase. Great experience here at the Manchester NH store!

We have an antique 4-poster bed so needed a custom mattress. We worked with Cassie in the Manchester store and she was wonderful at helping us choose the best mattress to fit our bed and our comfort. The instructions for measurements were clearly laid out and she followed up with questions to be sure everything was accurate. The mattress fits perfectly and we have been getting better sleep than we have in years!

My partner and I desperately needed a new mattress. We were of course dreading this process thinking of dealing with chain mattress stores because of sales pressure and poor quality mattresses. Then I discovered PMM. From the moment we stepped in, Cassie was incredible. Telling us about the product and then leaving us alone to try everything multiple times. The mattresses are handmade and the quality shows. We purchased exactly what we needed for no more than a chain would’ve charged. Delivery cost was great as well, they even took our old mattress and box spring! The delivery was so swift and professional. We couldn’t believe how quickly things moved from purchase to having this mattress and boxspring in our bedroom. And the icing on the cake, the delivery gentlemen brought us a handwritten thank you card and some local ME coffee! I had no idea such a dream place existed! After checking out mattresses for a year and a half and trying mattresses at Portland Mattress Makers for 6 months I finally made up my mind. Portland Mattress was by far the best brand! I loved the fact that the folks there was not pushy and they always answered my questions and gave me plenty of time to make up my mind. Cassie The manager at the Manchester store on S. Willow St. was a gem, she gave me the time and space I needed. Let me tell you I mean it when I say I tried mattresses I am not exaggerating . I bought a bed in a box only to send it back, I tried another place in Gardner mass only to return that one. Not to mention a multitude of a mattress stores none of them compared to the comfort and support that I found at Portland mattress makers. And if it helps anyone out there. I recently had a back operation and was glad to come home to a comfortable bed!

I recently ordered a custom boat mattress for my Tiara 3300. The V-berth is "L" shaped and had a piece of hand cut memory foam in place. I was skeptical on how well a new custom mattress was going to fit until they sent me the pattern kit which included an angle gauge. The patterning was very simple and recording the angles gave me hope. The mattress fit perfectly, including the angled sides to conform to the hull. I really like the vapor barrier on the bottom as the humidity can get pretty high during the Summer. I also really like the fitted sheets, especially at the corner of the "L" shape. If it is not fitted, the sheets can't make that 90 degree turn and look very sloppy. They also sent my pattern to another company to have a custom cover/comforter made. The mattress is very comfortable, communication from PMM has been excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new, high quality mattress.Thank you!

I went to see Bonnie about changing the mattress. She was more than happy to change it. She worked with me to find the perfect mattress for my back issues. They came and swapped the mattresses and we love the new one.We will be recommending you to friends and family.
Everyone is so helpful. You can tell it’s a local operation. They answered so many questions of mine. They aren’t on commission so they really just care about your comfort letting you take time to purchase. So happy we found them right down the street from us 🙂
